The aim of this research project is to identify and uncover mechanisms of discrimination \u2013 mechanisms which lead to PoC and their experiences, perspectives and stories being absent, rejected or downright forgotten. From the interviews the TU will derive specific anti-racist and decolonial forms of communication and ways of working. In the interest of fair practice, the TU is developing, both for itself and the wider cultural scene in French-speaking Switzerland, strategies to boost diversity among artists, colleagues, programmes and audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2020, the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l&#8217;Usine has been organising a cultural mediation programme through discussions, conferences, meetings with artists and workings, as a laboratory for critical thinking. For \u00abD\u00e9centrer les pratiques et les postures\u00bb, the project work group consisting of L\u00e9a Genoud, Kayije Kagame, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Mateev, Ramaya Tegegne and Fatima Wegmann is conducting interviews, the results of which will be formed into a publication made public in May 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div id=\"text-shadow-box-block_5ff474cdb0c5e\" class=\"mod-text-shadow-box\" data-scheme=\"yellow\">\n\t\t<p><strong>People of Colour (PoC)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>For the meaning of the self description PoC see the glossary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diversitystyleguide.com\/glossary\/bipoc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Diversity Style Guide.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l&#8217;Usine: <\/span><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">We prefer the sociological term\u00a0<\/span><\/i><i><span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span><\/i><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">racis\u00e9<span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span> (French for <span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span>racialised<span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span>, although in English <span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span>PoC<span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span> is preferred) to the term <span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span>people with a migration background<span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span>, because it points more precisely to the phenomena connected with racism that we want to highlight in our project. In the view of the D\u00e9colonisons les arts! collective, <span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span>race<span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span> doesn&#8217;t exist, but groups and individuals are racialised: a social construction linked to a historical and evolutionary definition of <span lang=\"fr\">\u00ab<\/span>race<\/span><\/i><i><span lang=\"fr\">\u00bb<\/span><\/i><i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">. The racialisation process refers to the various legal, cultural, social and political means by which individual people and groups obtain traits or stigmas.
